Statement on Shootings at Tree of Life Congregation in Pittsburgh and Kroger in Kentucky

10/28/18

The Union for Traditional Judaism (UTJ) expresses its deepest sorrow for the victims of the attack on Tree of Life Congregation in Pittsburgh on Shabbat as well as their families.  We express our deep appreciation to all emergency service personnel who responded.  We pray that the blessing of peace abide in the United States and that the Almighty protect us all from hate and violence.

Days before the shooting in Pittsburgh, another hateful person targeted African Americans, originally at a church and then at a Kroger.  We mourn the loss of Maurice Stallard and Vickie Jones along with their brothers and sisters in Pittsburgh.

Please note that UTJ Executive Director Rabbi Gerald Sussman participated in a prayer vigil in response to the attack in Pittsburgh.  Video is available on UTJ Viewpoints.
