The Union for Traditional Judaism calls upon all Jews, regardless of movement affiliation or non-affiliation, to join in expressing support for the State of Israel at this critical time. We condemn the policy of Islamic Jihad to take retribution for a surgical military strike on a terrorist leader by attacking hundreds of thousands of Israeli civilians with explosive missiles. Women, children and men have been under a constant barrage of rocketfire, throughout the Israeli south, though a tenuous ceasefire appears to be holding as we post this statement.
At a time when there are those who would delegitimize the right of the Jewish State to exist and to defend its existence against groups like Islamic Jihad, groups committed to the physical destruction of Israel, the Jewish community must draw together in solidarity with the millions of our brothers and sisters in the Jewish homeland. We urge the world at large to join the Jewish community in condemning Islamic Jihad’s murderous acts against civilians and supporting Israel’s right to defend itself against such acts.
May Heaven protect the defenders of Israel.
