SUMMARY:Parashat Hashavua with Rabbi Seth Gordon (Every Wednesday)
DESCRIPTION:UTJ Viewpoints Contributor Rabbi Seth Gordon and Traditional Co
ngregation of Creve Coeur\, Missouri welcome you to join their weekly Para
shah (Torah portion) class which meets via Zoom on Wednesday evenings at 7
:00 PM Central Time.\n\nBelow is Rabbi Gordon's description of his class.
To particiapte\, please register here.\nIn order to understand the we
ekly Torah parashah\, I present a toolbox of classic rabbinic sources (in
English translation) and scholarly insights. Each tool provides breadth an
d depth for a rich and meaningful understanding of the weekly parashah\, t
aking us beyond a casual reading.\n\nWe study relevant Mishnah\, Talmud\,
and Midrash\, as well as RaSHI\, ibn Ezra\, and RaSHBaM\, and others. Neha
ma Leibovitz and her array of later Medieval rabbinic commentary as well a
s the Torah Temimah's incisive thoughts on the Talmudic and Midrashic teac
hings frequently further enhance our study. The primary scholarly text is
the JPS Torah Commentary. Many students bring their translation of the TaN
aCH and learn how translation affects interpretation. I encourage question
 s and comments
