The Union for Traditional Judaism (UTJ) is a group of rabbis, scholars, and laypeople who advocate for a passionate, open-minded approach to Torah study and observance of Jewish law (Halakhah) rooted in classical religious sources and informed by modern scholarship.

Through our website, social media, publications, conferences, Panel of Halakhic Inquiry, op-ed pieces, and educational materials, the UTJ encourages all Jews to respect the actual parameters of Jewish law, avoiding the temptation to rewrite them in the spirit of secularism on the one hand or to evade legitimate contemporary questions on the other.

But there is more that we can do to bring our message of open-minded Halakhic Judaism to the broadest possible spectrum of the Jewish world. Please tell us how you are willing to help us achieve this goal by filling out the form below.

Publications Committee (help develop and distribute content for UTJ Viewpoints website, emails, and social media)

Programming Committee(help develop and distribute UTJ webinars, possible in-person events, and community calendar)

Finance Committee (manage UTJ finances and fundraising efforts)

Governance Committee (insure our organization runs smoothly and in accordance with our bylaws and any relevant laws)

Morashah Board (Morashah is our rabbinic fellowship, this option open to Morashah members only, subject to positions being available)

Help with office work (e.g. manage our contact list, assist in responding to correspondence, etc.)

Is there anything else you would like to tell us?

Please note: While your volunteer efforts for our organization are vital, we have learned that without the financial resources to support some professional staff, it is extremely difficult to coordinate our efforts and maintain forward progress. Therefore, we are asking committee members to donate or raise at least $360 per year. While this is not a strict requirment, we ask for your best good-faith efforts to live up to these responsibilities. We are also happy to help you fulfill these goals. For instance, we can create a fundraising page for you through our Paypal account.
