In the late 1980’s, the parody singer Weird Al Yankovic was invited to a big celebrity party in Hollywood. There were going to be some major musicians there, and he felt kind of sheepish, since he’s just a silly parody singer. He wasn’t sure if he would fit in. And so, he’s hanging around alone in a corner, when he hears an excited voice from across the room, yelling in a British accent: “Hey is that Weird Al Yankovic?? Oh my God guys, that’s Weird Al”! And he turned around, and it was none other than Sir Paul McCartney! Paul McCartney was genuinely excited to be able to meet him. And that’s when he knew he’d made it big.

Rabbi Moshe Grussgott is a second-generation member of Morashah, the rabbinic fellowship of UTJ.
He has engaged with all types of Jews worldwide. From Belarus and Minsk to Australia and New Zealand, he worked with Jewish teens and teenagers with special needs. He has been both a hospital and military chaplain. These experiences have enriched and informed his perspective as a synagogue rabbi – his life’s main passion.
Rabbi Grussgott was educated for 8 years at Yeshiva University, during which time he earned a BA in Psychology, an MA in Medieval Jewish History, and rabbinic ordination.
