Rabbi Nachman on Rejoicing for the Totality of Experience (Exodus 18:9)

Philosophy, Torah/Talmud

by Rabbi Jeffrey (Yaakov) Siegel

Disclaimer: The opinions expressed here are that of the writer and do not necessarily represent the views of the Union for Traditional Judaism, unless otherwise indicated.

Rabbi Siegel discusses another aspect of יתרו’s (Jethro’s) joy reported at Exodus 18:9 “for all the good” that God did.  Rabbi Siegel teaches about Rabbi Nachman of Breslov ‘s (Bratzlav) teaching regarding our experience of joy being fragmented. Only in true joy, which means the spiritual reality of all things, can we experience the synergy of all that is happening.

Rabbi Siegel refers to his “previous video” regarding Exodus 18:9.  You can find that video here.
